About This Place

El Guanaco Taqueria Y Antojitos stands out as a vibrant gem in Oakland Park, Florida, offering an authentic taste of Mexican, Latin American, and notably Salvadoran cuisine. Nestled at 331 NE 44th St, this cozy eatery invites diners into a warm, well-decorated space that perfectly complements the robust and comforting flavors served on each plate.

The menu is a delightful journey through rich culinary traditions, with standout dishes that leave a lasting impression. The Chile Relleno with Steak, paired with rice, black beans, and fried sweet plantains, creates an irresistible harmony of textures and bold tastes—creamy cheese melted inside a delicately battered pepper, counterbalanced by savory steak and the subtle sweetness of plantains. The Churrasco Steak is grilled to perfection, tender and packed with smoky flavors that make every bite memorable.

For those craving a genuine Salvadoran experience, the Loroco & Cheese Pupusa is a must-try, showcasing a traditional delicacy stuffed with a unique edible flower and gooey cheese. The Homemade Fried Tortilla Chips paired with fresh salsa set a fantastic tone for the meal, while their Street Corn on the Cob offers a burst of smoky, tangy, and creamy flavors. Seafood lovers are treated to options like the Camarones Rancheros and the hearty Seafood Soup, both bursting with fresh, vibrant ingredients.

To complement the food, El Guanaco offers an enticing beverage selection including a refreshing Horchata, the tropical zing of a Passion Fruit Margarita, and a spicy Michelada. Guests also rave about the rich, comforting Cafe Con Leche, a wonderful way to round off a satisfying meal.

The dining atmosphere enhances the culinary delights. According to patrons like Armani, the restaurant is a small but inviting spot with friendly staff that immediately make you feel at home. The outside patio offers a beautiful setting for relaxed meals, as noted by Malik, making it a perfect spot for both lunch and dinner. Regulars like Eric Durand appreciate the generous portions and homemade quality of every dish, alongside attentive service that even extends a warm welcome to furry friends.

Affordability is another strong sentiment echoed by customers. Oneida Reyes highlights the excellent value, remarking on the incredible quality and freshness of the food paired with surprisingly reasonable prices—where a full meal with drinks and tip comes well under $60, proving that great Latin flavors don’t have to come at a premium.

Whether you’re craving the zest of mole enchiladas, the hearty embrace of a steak burrito, or the unique Salvadoran Combo 1, El Guanaco Taqueria Y Antojitos promises an experience rich in flavor, culture, and warmth. It’s no wonder diners describe it as a “must” whenever they're in South Florida, returning time and again for a taste that feels both authentic and lovingly prepared.

Found this place from TikTok and decided to go the next day and was not disappointed at all! It was amazing, workers were very friendly, and the place is small, cozy, and well decorated . Everyone highly enjoyed their food. Another new favorite restaurant.

Hadn’t been here in years and it’s still as good as the first time. I love this place. From the friendly servers to the beautiful outside patio. Their margaritas are some of the best. Tacos phenomenal, all the sauces are house made. Tortillas made from scratch. I can’t say enough good things about this restaurant. It’s a must whenever I’m in south Florida.

My drink was passion fruit mojitos, it was good but I have had better. Food was amazing! 10 out of 10! It was fresh, hot and tasty! I had the chicken shrimp steak fajitas and my son had the Bria tacos. We also had the Mexican corn! Everything was delicious! But what was even better were the prices!! alcoholic drinks, soda, appetizers, 2 dinner plates and tip we didn’t even pay 60 dollars! Super low key an cute spot!

The atmosphere is welcoming, the service is consistently great, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality of food and experience provided. El Guanaco is one of my absolute favorite spots in Oakland Park. Their lunch specials are always incredible , generous portions, and you really can’t beat the price with a beverage. Every dish tastes fresh and homemade. The waitstaff is consistently friendly, attentive, and welcoming. They always make us feel right at home, and they even get excited to see our dog when we bring him along. It’s rare to find a place with great food and such genuinely warm service. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for amazing Mexican and Salvadoran food at a fantastic value!

Delicious Mexican Food. Their burrito was average in size but packed full of flavor. I was surprised by the freshness or their tortilla chips, but their hot salsa stole the show as it was truly fresh & super flavorful. The Guacamole was probably equal to their salsa. I left here full and very happy.

Stopped by for a late lunch. The food was AMAZING!!! My partner and I had the bean, cheese and jalapeño pupusa, which I would highly recommend. Then I had the chicken mole. The good thing about the mole was that it was a flat slab of seasoned grilled chicken, with mole sauce baked on top. It didn't feel heavy. We finished the meal off with coconut flan, which was great, as well. I'll def come back if I end up in this area again.
